Bachok M Taib was born in Pontian, Johor. He received his lower secondary education at the
Sekolah Kebangsaan Tengku Mahmood Iskandar and Sekolah Dato Penggawa Barat, Pontian. Aft­er obtaining his Lower Certicate of Education, he furthered his studies for his upper secondary education at Sekolah Alam Shah, Cheras, Kuala Lumpur from 1966 to 1969.
 
He went on to pursue his bachelor’s degree in Mathematics at Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia as a first batch student from 1970 to 1974. Upon graduation in 1974, he joined Universiti Pertanian Malaysia as a tutor and continued to further his studies at University of Reading,
United Kingdom, where he obtained his Master of Science in Mathematics in 1976.
 
He subsequently came back to the Department of Mathematics in Universiti Pertanian Malaysia
as a lecturer. In 1981 he enrolled as a PhD student at University of Wollongong, Australia and
obtained his PhD in mathematics in 1986.
 
In 2002 he moved to Universiti Pendidikan Sultan Idris, Tanjung Malim, where he was appointed as a professor and also the Director of the Graduate School. Bachok M Taib is now a professor in the field of Numerical Methods at the Faculty of Science, Universiti Sains Islam Malaysia (USIM) since August 2005.
 
His research interest is in numerical methods, particularly Boundary Integral Methods for solving partial differential equations (PDEs). He is also into developing methods which are specifically used for solving singular integral equations.
 
Together with his PhD student Hisham, they are successfully developed an extended Chebyshev polynomial of the first, second, third and forth kind for solving a class of singular integral equations.
 
In USIM, three PhD students have graduated under his supervision. Currently he is supervising one Master student. Bachok M Taib has published more than 60 research papers in refereed and citation-indexed journals and written 4 chapters in a book.
 
He is a life-member of the Malaysian Mathematical Science Society (PERSAMA), and once member of the American Mathematical Society. He is a member of the Editorial Board for the Malaysian Journal of Science, Health and Technology (MJoSHT).
 
His expert opinion has also been sought on a number of occasions by the UKM, UPM, UPSI and UMT promotion panel. throughout his over forty-four year as an academician, he continuously demonstrated commitment to his work and has been ever willing to impart, share and spread knowledge to his students and the community.
