PROFESSOR DR. NORITA MD NORWAWI, born in Kuala Pilah, Negeri Sembilan and went to Government English Primary School, Port Dickson, Negeri Sembilan and, Maktab Rendah Sains MARA Kuantan, Pahang.

 

She is a Professor of Computer Science at the Faculty of Science & Technology, Universiti Sains Islam Malaysia (USIM) since December 2014. She graduated from University of New South Wales, Sydney, Australia with BSc in Computer Science in 1987, Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia with MSc Computer Science in 1994 and Universiti Utara Malaysia (UUM) WITH Ph.D. in 2004.

 

She holds the position as Head of Computer Science Department at School of Information Technology, UUM, Head of Computer Science Program, Deputy Dean (Student Affairs and Alumni) and Dean of the Faculty of Science & Technology, USIM.

 

She was also appointed as the Director for Islamic Science Institute, USIM. She is currently the coordinator for the Sustainable and Serenity Hub, responsible for the synchronization of all sustainable living initiatives in USIM.

 

She was the Visiting Professor to the Faculty of Computer Engineering, Samarkand Branch, Tashkent University of Information Technology, Samarkand, Uzbekistan, Visiting Professor to International University of Renewal, Istanbul, Turkey and Visiting Research Fellow at Japan Advance Institute of Science and Technology, Kanazawa, Japan.

 

She is also the Vice President for the Malaysian Muslim Scientist Association (PERINTIS), the Assistant Secretary for the Malaysian Society for Higher Education Policy and Research Development (PenDaPat) and the Exco committee members for Jemaah Profesor USIM.

 

She is also appointed as the Editor for Ulum Islamiyyah Journal and Journal of Quran Sunnah Education & Special Needs, USIM.

 

She is also a member of Association for the Advancement of Artificial Intelligence (AAAI), USA, Association for Computing Machinery (ACM), USA, ACM Special Interest Group on Artificial Intelligence and IEEE Computer Society.

 

Her research background is mainly in the area of Artificial Intelligence focusing on intelligent technique using data mining, soft computing, swarm intelligence and multiagent system.

 

She leads the development of the Naqli Aqli integrated Semantic Search Engine (NAISSE), a heterogenous knowledge repository platform with cross-lingual Information Retrieval application.
