This book explores the "movement" of Malay psyche, one of the many resultants of navigating the problematics behind heterogeneity and homogeneity of Malayness expressed in television narratives.

By investigating popular TV fiction texts and audiences exchanges, the book categorizes two sociocultural issues as as prevalent, namely satanism and fitrah.

Firstly, the divergence from malay adat, generally through satanism is colored with uncertainty of modernity that contain cracks, fracture, social and cultural displacement, and such dissension over Malay precepts foreshadows the appropriation of global corollaries in the local visionaries.

Secondly, fitrah, the convergence with Islam, however magnifies greater intensification of Malay moral currency and unveils human vulnerability and dependence on God.

That is as much as a Malay subject strays from cultural and religious precepts, irrespective of the kinds of mistakes or sins a Malay subject makes, unconscious Malay psyche holds that s/he may unconsciously return to familiar, receptacle of recognizable, local Malay-Muslim ways of living.

By theorizing unconscious Malay psyche, insights into creative interaction between Islamic-ness Malay-ness are presented , crossing the boundaries of popular culture , sociology, and postcolonial literature.
