Professor Datin Dr. Che Ilina Che Isahak M.B.B.S. (University of Malaya), M.Sc (Medical Microbiology) (University of London), A.M.M., P.S.K (Kelantan) is a professor in the Department of Medical Sciences II, Universiti Sains Islam Malaysia (USIM).
 
Before joining USIM, she had worked in Department of Microbiology & Immunology, Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM) for 32 years and in Hospital UKM as Assistant Head of Diagnostic Laboratory Services and Infection Control Doctor.
 
She was a member in many of Malaysia’s immunization and surveillance committees and programmes in the Ministry of Health. She had been involved in the implementation of the National Rubella and Hepatitis B vaccination programmes.
 
She also evaluates antiviral drugs and viral vaccines for Drug Control Authority, Ministry of Health Malaysia. She had been actively involved in the promotion of vaccines to the healthcare workers, hajj pilgrims and the public through conferences and mass media including televisions and newspapers.
 
She contributes to Influenza Pandemic Preparedness Plan in Malaysia.Professor Dr. Ilina represented Malaysia in Asia Pacific Committee of Influenza and the Steering Committee for The Control of Infectious Diseases in Asia.
 
She has published 76 scientific papers, contributed to 16 books and presented more than 55 papers. Her research is mainly on respiratory viruses and vaccines. She edits microbiology manuscripts for Medical Journal of Malaysia, Medicine and Health, Malaysian Journal of Medical Sciences and Malaysian Journal of Medicine and Health Sciences.
 
In USIM she is a Research Fellow in Institut Pengurusan dan Penyelidikan Fatwa Sedunia (INFAD). She has been an auditor for Malaysian Qualification Agency for Instituitional evaluation and accreditation of Masters in Microbiology programmes.
 
As external examiner to many Medical and Dental schools in Malaysia, Professor Dr. Ilina helps to improve the standards of Medical Microbiology curriculum in the private and government universities.
