This book is a part of the list of the total of 27 references to date palm contained in the 114 chapters of the Qur’an and their interpretations. It begins with Quranic descriptions of the nucleus of dates (al-fatil, al-naqir and al-qitmir). It is followed by Quranic descriptions of the date palm spadix (al-tal’), the date palm trunk (al-judhu’ and al-a’jaz) and ends up with the date palm (al-nakhil, al-nakhl and nakhla also shajarah tayyibah, kull hin and min linah). The prevalent use of dates in the present day especially among Muslims is the outcome of a long citation of date palm in the Quran that needs to be understood to a certain extent if we are to make sense of the role of Islam in preserving health.
