Training has been continuously valued as a strategic and important intervention to improve human resources in organizations. However, providing training does not always produce positive results for employees. One reason why training may have a limited impact on employees could be due to employees not transferring the knowledge, skills and attitudes that they have gained from training to the workplace. This concept is known as transfer of training. If organizations wish to enhance transfer of training, they must understand the factors that affect this process. Therefore, the main objective of this book is to provide adequate understanding of the factors that affect transfer of training. We hope this book can help organizations to enhance transfer of training outcomes in their workplace in order to achieve their training objectives and to maximize the return on training investment.
Abdul Rahim Zumrah is a senior lecturer at the Faculty of Leadership and Management, Universiti Sains Islam Malaysia. He holds a Bachelor of Science (B.Sc) and Master of Science (M.Sc) in Human Resource Development from the Universiti Teknologi Malaysia, and a PhD in Human Resources and Organisation Behaviour from the University of South Australia. He has published articles in various international journals such as Personnel Review, International Journal of Training and Development, European Journal of Training and Development, Workplace Learning and World Journal of Management. His research focuses on the effective training management and workforce development.
Stephen Boyle is an Associate Professor and a Dean Academic at the University of South Australia Business School. He holds a Master of Business Administration from the University of South Australia, and a PhD from the Macquarie University. His research focuses on the strategic management and organisational behaviour as they relate to cross-cultural issues, nonprofit and government organisations and the creative industries.
